The planning workshop for the MICROCASA project took place on May 2-3, 2023, with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), and University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman leading the effort. The universities will be engaged in several activities related to micro-credentials, such as building faculty capacity, designing prototype courses, and developing infrastructure. During the planning workshop, the UPOU, ADMU, and UP Diliman designed three micro-credential courses intended for technical and vocational groups, health workers, and agricultural and development workers. The UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies Continuing Education Programs (CEP) will test these courses in collaboration with various stakeholders, including National Government Agencies (NGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the private sector, and the academe. <\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, the workshop focused on establishing a micro-credential consortium that will act as a clearinghouse for micro-credential offerings, quality management and audit mechanisms, policy formulation, public education, and stakeholder exercises. This initiative will run parallel to the Consortium of Open and Distance Education Providers (CODEPP) created by the UPOU.<\/span><\/p>\n
